Professional profile · Lars Foldager

For language and content teams

I’m a native Danish linguist based in Ontario, Canada, working full-time in translation since 2013. Nordic Nuance is my independent practice: you work directly with me on the brief, the language decisions and the delivery.

Language pairs and focus

My primary pair is English into Danish; German into Danish is my second working pair. I translate, revise and post-edit, with specialist attention to medical and life-sciences content, technical documentation and Danish language quality.

My wider experience includes technology and interfaces, marketing, travel, privacy and legal content. The subject matter and required review depth determine whether a project is a good fit.

Subject knowledge

I hold a Danish degree in physiotherapy. That background informs my work with anatomy, physiology, medical terminology and instructions intended for healthcare professionals or patients.

Technical German-to-Danish work includes industrial manuals and equipment documentation. Language-quality work includes bilingual revision, machine-translation review, linguistic QA and AI language evaluation.

Writing and communication

Alongside translation, I offer original writing, editorial development, transcreation and communication review. The work starts with the purpose of the piece, its audience and the voice it needs to carry.

My interest in psychology and philosophy informs how I approach attention, interpretation and human communication. For human–AI interaction, the practical focus is the quality of the response: what it says, how it is likely to be understood and what expectations it creates.

Tools and workflows

I work with memoQ and Trados Studio, as well as client platforms including Smartling, MateCat, Phrase and Lokalise. Project terminology, reference documents and style requirements guide the work.

For reviews, I separate meaning and terminology errors from optional stylistic changes. Numbers, units, placeholders, tags and repeated wording receive explicit attention. Unresolved source issues are returned as clear questions.

Briefing and delivery

Please include the intended audience, language, subject area, scope, deadline and expected service. For original writing, a brief and any source material help establish the direction. For QA or evaluation, include the rubric and any product access needed to judge the text in context.

I confirm fit, scope and a quote before starting. A tailored CV or further details about relevant experience can be provided on request.
